A shooting in Asheboro, North Carolina on Tuesday afternoon left one person injured, according to police.

The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. in the 100 block of East Dixie Drive.

Police say an 18-year-old male suspect was arrested in connection with the shooting.

The suspect's mother, 43-year-old Denisse Vera-Covarrubias, was also taken into custody.

In a separate incident, three people were injured in a shooting at a fast-food restaurant in Asheboro.

Police say a suspect is in custody in that case as well.

Both shootings are under investigation.
